Nokia E72 previously came with firmware version v053.001. Originally 1 has been equipped with User Data Preservation; hence, there will be any effect to the stored data during and after this update. Yet still, it will be a better idea to backup the entire data inside the phone.

Nokia E72 users are able to update this firmware version using Over-The-Air feature, which has been installed in the phone. Users can also download the updated version from Nokia’s application called Software Updater for Nokia. Updating the version from this feature can be from Personal Computer with Windows OS. Several users might find out that their Nokia E72 has not received the update yet; it is possibly caused by the update has not reached users’ region product code. The update will be featuring SIM Lock 3.0, Ovi Store shortcut in Home Screen, and so forth.
