When you rely on your smartphone to get you through the day, its battery life is incredibly important. You know how very frustrating it can be for your smartphone to die just when you need it most, like in the middle of a phone call. Unfortunately when you’re on the go, it’s not always possible to plug in your charger, nor do you want to have to constantly charge your phone. You want it to last. You’ll be happy to know that there are many simple things you can do to increase the battery life of you’re smartphone. Here are some easy ways to make your charge last.

Get Rid of Unused Apps

If your apps are working in the background of your phone, they will definitely cause a significant drain on your battery. Go through your apps and delete any that you no longer use. If you can clean up your apps, you’ll definitely help increase the battery life of your phone. If you do have a lot of apps on your phone, disable them from running in the background when they’re not in use.

Choose Your Wallpaper Carefully

It’s always fun choosing a wallpaper for your phone, and there are lots of cool, entertaining options. If you want to help your battery, though, go with a simple, static one. Don’t choose a background with animation or movement because it requires more power.

Adjust the Brightness of Your ScreenIf the brightness of your screen is at 100 percent, you’re using a lot of battery. Go to your phone’s display settings and adjust down the brightness of your screen. If you can lower it just a little bit, you’ll help improve your phone’s battery life. When indoors, you should be able to go with a significantly lower level of brightness and still be able to see everything you need. Lowering the brightness will also help reduce eye strain.

Turn Off Your Networks When Possible

Connecting to the Internet and other networks quickly drains your battery. When you’re not using the Internet, disconnect from it. If you don’t need your Bluetooth or GPS, disable them until you do. If you aren’t going to be getting calls or don’t need to, switch to Airplane mode. There are probably lots of times throughout the day when turning off your networks is appropriate, such as when you’re in a long meeting or just listening to music. Doing so will certainly increase battery life.

Don’t Over-Charge Your Phone

If you over-charge your smartphone, it will quickly reduce the quality of your battery. When you need to charge your phone, only leave it plugged in for the amount of time required to get a full charge. It might only take an hour or two to charge your phone, so don’t leave it plugged in overnight.

Get an Extra Battery

When all else fails, it’s a good idea to have an extra battery on hand. Purchase an extra battery for your smartphone and keep it with you, charged. There are also covers for smartphones that contain extra battery packs and increase your phone’s battery life. Just snap your smartphone into a battery pack cover, and you’ll be able to continue using it.
