Are you feeling a little anxious, stressed, or maybe a little edgy? Do you have a smartphone? If you do, you might want to take a breather from your smartphone. Yes, you read that right. Put the smartphone down, and you won’t get hurt. In a recent study, it has been shown that there is a link between stress and checking your smartphone compulsively. Many people may want to blame it on all of the work-related stuff they need to check. But, it is linked to the personal use of our smartphones. All of the updates and news feeds is making us anxious and jittery. What stresses you out the most about your smartphone? Here are the top 6 things that people find that stress them about when it comes to their smartphones.

1. Never off the clock. When you have a smartphone, you have this sense of duty to always be connected to your work. It doesn’t matter where you are, but you feel the need to always be checking your work email. Who knows, maybe your boss sent you an important email at 4:30 am. You never know!

2. Everyone else is always on the clock. Even if you take the time off from your phone, you might start to feel anxious because everyone around you is checking their phone. This may happen when you are out to dinner with friends, and while you try to ask her about her day, she might start checking her smartphone. It stressed you out because you want to compete with the phone, but can’t.

3. Twitter feeds and Facebook updates. You want to know what is going on with everyone. Once you start to find out what everyone is doing, you find that everyone is doing everything much better than you ever could. It stresses you out because you feel like you can’t compete.

4. Unanswered emails. I don’t know about you, but when I see an email that is not answered, it starts to stress me out. I want to answer people as promptly as I can.

5. Apps are left unused. I know that I have lots of apps that I don’t use. I get stressed out because I know that I am not using them, but I want to. If this is the case, you might want to start looking at deleting apps that you don’t use.

6. Kids want you to play games with your smartphone. It gets pretty nerve-wracking when your 2 year old is asking you every 5 minutes to play with your smartphone. That, combined with all of the stresses of having a smartphone might just send you over the edge.

Smartphones can be beneficial, but can also induce a lot of stress.
