CargoSmart, a sailing schedule company that has provided international cargo schedules for ten years, announced the creation of the SSM20 Lite on December 7, 2010 to help cargo owners locate ocean carriers quickly and efficiently. Not only can you choose from over 20 carriers, you can even see the overall rank of shippers and carriers alike. The overall rank allows you to decide whether or not it is worth your time to use one shipper or carrier, as opposed to another. Currently, there is an updated version 8.0 on the market that retains the same efficient sailing schedule operation as before.

SSM20 Lite

The SSM20 Lite is a formidable IPhone application due to its schedule selection. When you touch the CargoSmart icon on your IPhone, you should arrive at the carrier search engine. Select a carrier, origin city, destination city, and intended date range. The intended date range can stretch anywhere from four weeks before your travel to four weeks after your arrival.

The next page you arrive at will be the sailing schedules and the variety of scheduling selection features you can see on the page. The page features “First Port of Load” (FPL), “Port of Departure” (POD), departure and arrival times, transit times, and service. You can click on any sailing search result to view details. Schedule details consist of the following: vessel voyage, CY destination (full container from origin to destination), haulage, and final destination hub.

For those who want to make sure that their phone and all the information that we access on them (these days, at least, for those of us that have smart phones) here are a few tips -

Don’t Be Stupid

Your smartphone is basically a very small computer. Like any other computer (even Macs), your phone is vulnerable to attacks, as well as viruses, and hacking from external sources – if you want evidence, just sit down and watch your favorite crime drama; I’m sure at some point they will talk about tracking phones.

Don’t open emails on your phone where you don’t know the recipient, don’t click on unknown links, don’t think that because your phone does have some built in security measures it means that your phone is iron clad – far from it!
